Playboy
A choreography concept video set to Shevya Awasthi's Playboy, directed and choreographed by Anjali Kapur. Filmed in a rain room, the piece explores how movement, lighting, camera angles, and the contrast between rain and dry environments can be used to enhance the energy and mood of the song. Through a variety of visual setups and performance-driven choreography, Anjali sought to highlight Shevya's presence while also creating opportunities for the dancers to showcase their individuality and talent. The result is a piece that feels playful, dynamic, and true to the spirit of the track.
Kaanta Laga
Inspired by the original Kaanta Laga music video and Shefali Jariwala's iconic performance, this dance concept serves as a tribute to the confidence, attitude, and cultural impact that made the song unforgettable. For Anjali, Kaanta Laga was one of those songs that defined an era. Through choreography and visual storytelling, the piece aims to capture the essence of early 2000s Bollywood while celebrating the nostalgia that continues to make the song resonate today.
House
We spend so much of our lives building. Building careers, building dreams, building versions of ourselves that we hope will finally feel complete. But what happens when the structure is finished and something still feels missing?
House is an exploration of that question. Through a dialogue with herself, Anjali examines the pursuit of success and the unsettling realization that achievement may never provide the fulfillment we expect it to. The piece explores the darker side of tying one's identity to accomplishment, and what happens when the thing you've spent your life working toward is no longer enough. As the foundation of that identity begins to crack, so does the person who built it.
Runaway
A girl weighed down by heavy, negative emotions fights to ignore and escape them. Suddenly, a flood of vivid colors sweeps through her world, each hue bringing an overwhelming rush of feelings. After this intense journey, she is left to wonder about the role these emotions play, and what balance might really mean for her.
This piece is a continuation of Content, an earlier work by Anjali that explores the extremes of light and dark. Now, the focus shifts to the gray space in between, where emotion isn’t so easily defined.
Undecided
Where does an artist truly fit in a world built around the 9-5? Do they even belong in a structure that often stifles creativity? And when faced with the pressure to conform, is there really a choice to step away, or is the system forcing them into a box they don't fit?
In this visual, Anjali explores this topic, questioning where art and structure collide and what it means to create in a world that often doesn't leave room for it.
Content
In Content, a piece that was choreographed, directed, and performed by Anjali, the tension between perfection and imperfection is explored, alongside struggles with impulsivity and overconsumption. Featuring Bharatanatyam dancers, the work culminates in a moment with cake, symbolizing the act of giving into toxic behaviors and the aftermath that follows.
